Become a Volunteer

We couldn’t provide the service we do with out the amazing support and selflessness of our volunteers. We like to think it is a mutually beneficial experience and that the rewards are felt for both the volunteer and person that needs help.

As a home visitor or social group helper/driver you would be providing a befriending and support service, and helping to prevent isolation and loneliness, or driving members to and from home to a monthly social group meeting or outing, using your own car. Times and dates would be by mutual agreement and we would match you to a member or group close to where you live.

As a driver of our new Fiat Ducato outreach vehicle, you would be helping to widen the accessibility of ESVS’s services, and promote the availability of aids and equipment for blind and partially sighted people throughout East Sussex. We aren’t looking for particular skills, just people who are friendly and approachable, and happy to help someone with sight problems maintain their independence.

All volunteers receive vision awareness training and have full support from our dedicated team.

Being an ESVS volunteer can be so rewarding, so if you have a few hours to spare, please click contact us tab and send us your details.
